Meditation made easy with Dan Harris

Recently published in Mindful magazine is a great, fun, animated and simple instruction video by happify and Dan Harris, correspondent (and more), for ABC News.

He’s previously shared his on-air panic attack, watched by over five million viewers, that led him to a practice of meditation. He started meditating to quiet his mind.

The benefits of meditation are to obtain more physical and emotional energy, attain inner peace, increase self-awareness, and it can enhance a spiritual connection for a more fulfilling life. I find it’s a lifeline to problem-solving conflicts and challenges.



Get It Together Today – Practice A Little Mindfulness

Observe yourself without judging yourself is a quote I often hear from Deepak Chopra.  It took me a while to really understand what he meant.

I’ve been practicing mindfulness for the past few years and, especially after my medicine body training this past weekend, I totally understand the importance of being fully present and aware of my day, moment to moment.

Here’s another, more clearly stated, quote I like from Jon Kabat-Zinn on his definition of mindfulness:

“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.”

Take five minutes today before you go to work and practice a little mindfulness with Deepak Chopra.  Thanks to Wild Divine for creating this video for all of us.

Do More Than Survive – Thrive! My Tip For A More Peaceful Life

Meditation is my recommended first step to self-transformation because it allows our mind to quiet itself and clear all of the clutter that fogs our lives.  It helps us get in touch with our inner selves.

A consistent practice of meditation is the most precious gift we can give to the world and to ourselves.  Putting a solid plan in place to fulfill this critical  first step to self-transformation, allows us to not only survive moment-to-moment, day-to-day, but we survive and thrive!

Take some time today and do a little meditation, 10 to 20 minutes of mindfulness.  I know the challenge in trying to quiet the mind, it took me several months to establish a mindful pattern.  Don’t be discouraged, it will happen.  Just like the Nike commercial says, Just Do It!

Master Meditation - Step 1 to Self-Transformation

Mindfulness doesn’t mean that you won’t or don’t think of anything, it only means that you throw away useless thoughts of a friend who is giving you a difficult time, a boss nagging you incessantly, or a spouse who cheats on you.  Mindfulness merely means to get comfortable getting quiet with yourself, in the moment, only paying attention to your breathing, and listening to every sound occurring at that very moment in time.

Yes, thoughts about issues in your life will attempt to invade your space during this peaceful interaction with yourself.  When this happens, take that opportunity to shove those irritating thoughts away and return, over and over again, to focusing on your breathing and listening to your surroundings, and feeling your body.  It is a joyous experience when you reach the state of dealing with mindfulness.

I guarantee you that when you reach the state of mindfulness, inspiration will take over and enable you to deal with your difficult friend, that nagging boss and your cheating spouse in a way you never could have done in the past.

Mindfulness Meditation with Deepak Chopra – Master the Avenue to Self-Transformation

Hello from Avinger, Texas where I’m sitting smack dab in front of nature and mixing and mingling with the birds.  It is beautiful!

We are meditating again – my favorite subject.  It’s also my recommendation for our first step to self-transformation.

Last Thursday you heard a few videos from Deepak Chopra about consciousness and, he said, “Things come and go, but our soul is the ticket to everything we could ever desire.  Collectively we can manifest a totally different reality; a total deconstruction of the old paradigm and reconstruction of a new reality.”

So again today, I honor Deepak Chopra and my soul and yours with another “meditation to get further into the gap”.
