Facing a fork in the road? Learn “The Earth Diet” way

August 5, 2015

Are you healthy and disease-free?

Have you reached the fork in the road with your weight and health?

The Earth DietLiana Werner-Gray, author of a new book called The Earth Diet – Your Complete Guide to Living Using Earth’s Natural Ingredients can show you which fork (physically and metaphorically) to use for eating your way to healthier living.

Werner-Gray knows what she’s talking about.

At 21 years old, Werner-Gray faced her fork in the road after confronting a precancerous tumor in her throat the size of a golf ball. She faced this health issue head-on by eliminating many non-nutritionally valued processed and junk foods in favor of foods that are plant-based and natural.

The Earth Diet provides many resources on nutritional healing, watching films, learning about the food industry and recommended websites and organizations to help you through your lifestyle change.

A few things you will learn through The Earth Diet are:

– How to add more raw food to your diet
– Foods lowest in pesticides
– Many top nutrient-dense vegetables, nuts, seeds, fruits, etc.
– Exposing the hazards of genetically modified foods
– How body care products are filled with chemicals
– How to grow your own produce
– Recipes, recipes, recipes for foods, juicing, detoxing, etc.

And there’s more:

– Fabulous natural/organic recipes (her smoothies are my favorite)
– Body care products made with natural ingredients
– Hair moisturizer treatments
– Antioxidant recipes
– Digestive healthful foods
– Foods high in protein
– Immune boosting foods

Find out what The Earth Diet recommends as a naturally cleanest sweet sourced foods that can provide our bodies with the most nutrients.

Take the right fork in the road and learn how to consume the natural and plant-based products for the way Werner-Gray refers to as her goal to help you get “nutrition in, toxins out.”

The spiritual eye of the heart – Marry your own soul

July 31, 2015

“For love to last, it is best not to have too many expectations. It is better just to offer love.” ~ His Holiness the Karmapa

How to Love Yourself andHave you heard this before – “If you want to love another human being, you know you must start with yourself,” says Meggan Watterson and Lodro Rinzler, co-authors of a new book to be released September 15, 2015 titled How to Love Yourself (and Sometimes Other People) – Spiritual Advice for Modern Relationships.

The authors want us to ask ourselves, “Where has my love not yet reached? Invite your hard-to-reach stories in like a dinner guest.”

We hear over and over again that meditation is the key to becoming familiar with ourselves. This same theme rings true in How to Love Yourself (and Sometimes Other People).

Watterson and Rinzler believe the amount of time we reserve for actually being by ourselves, especially through meditation (in the present moment) has become less and less because of too many distractions. Their mantra is “the true search for love happens within.”

There is a three-step process the duo refers to in this book of loving yourself based on Buddha’s ability to teach others to present themselves more authentically. The three steps are:

1. Look at yourself
2. Discover your basic goodness
3. Develop faith in that goodness

You will learn from Meggan and Lodro about a process called Disciplined Hope.

At the end of each chapter, the authors provide their interpretation and direction on what they’ve discovered works for loving themselves and others through situations like:

– How to love dating
– How to love being single
– How to fall in love without losing yourself
– How to commit to love
– The suffering of suffering
– Love without attaching strict conditions and expectations
– The boundless potential for love

Master Meditation - Step 1 to Self-Transformation

Master Meditation – Step 1 to Self-Transformation

How to Love Yourself is filled with exercises, meditation opportunities and a new way of looking at love. The book is also filled with many wisdom teachings from poets, mystics and the gospels.

Bottom line, the message I walked away with is this:

“Be still and know that happiness in lasting relationships is to be willing to never betray your own needs over other’s needs. First, marry your own soul — the spiritual eye of the heart and all else will fall into place.”

My story matters – Just breathe and “in you must go”

July 28, 2015

“The most difficult part of our stories is often what we bring to them –what we make up about who we are and how we are perceived by others.” Brené Brown

Ever want to make someone feel as bad as they made you feel? Do you numb or stockpile the hurt? Are you a ticking time bomb of unresolved emotions?

Rising StrongI received an advanced copy (available August 25, 2015) of Brené Brown’s book, Rising Strong – The Reckoning, The Rumble, The Revolution, a book that reforms the way we explore consequences of our choices during professional failures and personal heartbreaks that rearrange our lives.

Brown’s powerful book is filled with examples of stories we tend to create when we are faced with challenging moments driven by emotions and an immediate need to self-protect in not well-thought-out ways. You will recognize yourself in many of these stories.

I often use the phrase, “I don’t know what I don’t know,” which is so true of the Rising Strong process. You don’t know what you don’t know until you uncover this knowledge using Brown’s process.

What Brown taught me in Rising Strong is that my stories consist of blaming, tripping over the same issues again and again, shaming myself, stewing in judgement, and creating conspiracy theories. Sound familiar?

WHAT IS THE RISING STRONG PROCESS?

The Rising Strong Process consists of:
– Reckoning; walking into our story
– Rumbling; owning our story
– Revolutionizing; incremental revolutionary change

WHY SHOULD I USE THE RISING STRONG PROCESS?

Brown shares a powerful personal story about how she healed using her own Rising Strong Process after wanting to make someone feel as bad as they made her feel.

Brown’s personal Rising Strong process teaches us how to become aware of all the choices that unfold in front of us during moments of discomfort and hurt.

The Rising Strong Process is a great way to recognize who we really are versus who we think we are intellectually, physically and emotionally.

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT THE RISING STRONG PROCESS?

The Rising Strong Process is Brown’s way of looking back in order to move forward.

Rising Strong provides specific examples and a script to guide us through great questions to ask ourselves during our introspective journey to Rise Strong.

Not only does Brown’s process work for personal, parenting and business issues, it also provides an avenue for discovery as a creativity process for businesses and entrepreneurs.

Use your “facedown” moments (as Brown calls our upsetting stories) like getting fired, losing a business, team failure, fighting with a friend, finding out about an affair, etc., as a way to face our emotions and transform them for a more whole-hearted life.

As Brown says, “We can’t rise strong when we’re on the run.”

Does your story matter? Just breathe and “in you must go.”

All I want for Christmas is to Heal-thyself!

December 16, 2014

Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food. ~ Hippocrates

I just finished a great healing book from Hay House and my heart went ahhhh!

Loving Yourself to Great HealthLoving Yourself to Great Health: Thoughts & Food — the Ultimate Diet is a great book by Louise Hay, Ahlea Khadro and Heather Dane. Hint, hint … it’s a book I’d like under my Christmas tree.

Loving Yourself to Great Health is chock-full of ancient healing wisdom, a history of food knowledge and how advertiser manipulation has evolved. It also provides tons of tips, menus, recipes, affirmations and exercises.

The roadmap the authors provide educate about extitotoxins, glutamate, aspartate, cysteine, monosodium glutamate, high fructose, sucrose, and many other disguising words used in the labeling of our food that affect our well-being and behavior.

There is history they share about dyes in food that created hyperactivity in children, why we should be concerned about potassium bromate in our bread, and food used in China that combats obesity.

Heart San FranciscoThe authors have done a lot of research and provide great knowledge about 50 healing spices to boost health when creating our healing diets.

All I want for Christmas is Loving Yourself to Great Health in hardcover. The e-book is great, but this is one book I need to keep, not only in my library, but in my kitchen too.

Reality up for grabs – Things that make you go hmm!

September 10, 2014

“Whatchoo talkin’ bout?” a famous 1970s “Different Strokes” television series catchphrase, is a common response I hear when I share Pam Grout’s successful field of potentiality experiments — manifesting a new reality!

Grout is an author, travel writer and works as a freelance journalist for People magazine, CNN and The Huffington Post.

E CubedGrout’s new book,  E-cubed (E3 ) – Nine More Energy Experiences That Prove Manifesting Magic and Miracles Is Your Full-time Gig, is sure to be in high demand.

I see this new book also heading for the New York Times Best Sellers list.

E3 is a follow-on to her fabulously successful book, E-squared (E2 ) – Do it Yourself Energy Experiments Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality.

Grout’s engaging, funny, poetic and fun-filled quotes and experiments kept me reading through the night. I just couldn’t put this book down!

In fact, I wanted to see the results of one of her experiments so I chose to immediately share Experiment #2 with a friend of mine. Within two hours, we spotted two of the eight possibilities listed in this experiment. We were floored!

Within the next seven to ten hours, two more possibilities stared me right in the face and I have 61 more hours to spot the other four — I can’t wait! So fun!

She refers to eight of the ten experiments as corollaries with titles like “The Simon Cowell (or why you’re not capable of judging anything);” “The nature versus news and why you should get out more;” “The ‘if you say so’ (or your words are wands that shape your life).”

The titles are just three of the nine (there’s a bonus #10, too) experiments that I love most; and, shhh!, there’s a surprise giveaway in the book!

Grout’s premise to her books is so simple.

Oh, and have I said, “she’s one heck of a prolific writer?” She’ll have you laughing, crying and revealing things that make you go hmm!

I love this author, and you will too, when you realize “what Pam’s talkin’ bout” is BAM!, right on.

Just sing, sing a song – there’s a silver lining in every cloud

April 8, 2014

♫  Don’t worry that it’s not good enough for anyone else to hear; just sing, sing a song ♫
The Carpenters

♫  La la la la la; la la la la la la … ♫  so goes the song.

Maybe you remember it and maybe you don’t — I do. I can see myself running around the house as a teenager singing,

“… sing for you and for me
sing, sing a song
make it simple to last your whole life long ….”

For The Sender Love is Not a FeelingI can thank Alex Woodard for bringing that wonderful memory back to me.

His new book, For the Sender – Love Is (Not a Feeling) – Four Letters, Twelve Songs, One Story, wouldn’t let me sleep as “Sing a Song” replayed in my head.

Through his entire book, Woodard shares stories about songs he’s written that are other people’s stories, or so he thought.

Seemingly, Woodard finds songs in every letter he receives from friends suffering through challenging life situations– death, rebirth, pain, anger– and turns them into beautiful healing songs of love for you, for me and especially for him.

Learn about Woodard’s loyal, loving dog that gave him life through death.

Hear the different stories in the songs that inspired Woodard as you listen to the real music he created and provided with this book.

He says, “… like that letter still tucked away … it was more for the sender.”

Woodward challenges everyone who reads his book to share their own letters to be considered for a song by him and For the Sender.

So here’s my letter to you Alex Woodard and thank you for opening my heart again to healing. May the blessings be.

Dear Alex,

I frantically sift through the torn and crumpled pages of my own writings piled high in every folder scattered throughout my office. My story, it’s there. I had forgotten about it until your book opened my eyes again.

A few years ago, I drove into a new life, not without looking through my rear-view mirror. It all started when I realized I had become restless in a city where I spent nearly 30 years letting clouds get in my way.

I was young when I moved from a small town to a sprawling business center in a big city. I had illusions of fairy tales coming true for me. I was ready to tackle anything, and I excited in all the new adventures placed before me.

A brutal reality, and my naiveté, set in as harsher and grander plans took shape in uniquely challenging ways.

All that happened to me– good and bad– were for reasons unknown to me, until now. Those experiences were meant to teach me many lessons and to move me to a parting of the clouds.

In hindsight, I survived the  successes and failures that swirled around me like a tornado ripping Sun and Wispy Clouds Over Mountainsthrough one challenge after another, unaware that I was creating the storm.

As I remember my walk through the eye of the storm, I bless my experiences as I forgive myself.

I am thankful for all my life lessons and for learning to see them as gifts from above. Now I pray that all my scars be healed and my tears wiped away.

Thank you, too, Alex for reminding me to always look at the silver lining in the clouds.

Yours truly and gratefully,
Chris

I send you all love, blessings and wishes for a prosperous and abundant life!
