How do you disconnect from painful moments in your life – divorce, betrayals, loss of a job, or loss of a parent, child, brother or sister?  “These events create emotions that are parked and get blocked in our energy field” says Deborah King, author of Truth Heals and Be Your Own Shaman.

Deborah’s interview with Lynne Pierce from Success Blueprint is my selection for my weekly Blogtalk Friday segment.  In this interview, she calls the people who suck us dry or stab us in the back “energy vampires”.  Deborah King gives great information about healing and clearing energy blockages in her recent New York Times Best Seller, Be Your Own Shaman.

King wants us to find our secret talents and to define our own abilities by using her book, Be Your Own ShamanDeborah’s first sign that she was becoming a healer was first recognizing her addictions through a 12-step program, meditating and finally, journaling.  This started her on her path to shamanism.

What is a shaman?  I have my own shaman, Kenn Day, and he has been a central figure in helping me uncover and heal one of my biggest wounds I didn’t even know I had.  King’s definition for becoming a shaman is, “anyone who has done the inner work to clear themselves and become a vessel of change for other people.”

I’m still reading Truth Heals by Deborah which is a huge factor in my journey to self-healing.  When I finish that book, Be Your Own Shaman is next on my list.  Can you be your own shaman?  Will you be your own shaman?  When will you make it happen?
